About

One garage, three bays, and a diary that kept getting double-booked.

GarageCal was not designed in a boardroom from a list of features. It was built next to a working ramp, fixing the things that were actually going wrong.

It started with a real workshop

Most booking software for garages is built by people who have never had to tell a customer their car cannot go on the ramp today. It shows. The tools sell a slot because the calendar was free, without ever asking whether the bay that does that job was free.

GarageCal began with one independent garage in Devon: three bays, a mix of MOT and servicing work, and the same problem every independent has. The phone rings during a job. The customer who calls at seven in the evening gets nobody. The diary on the counter says one thing and the bay says another.

So the first thing built was not a calendar. It was the map between products and bays, because that is the bit everyone else gets wrong. Everything since has been added the same way: something went wrong in a real workshop, and it got fixed.

What we hold to

A short list, and we would rather be judged against it than against a feature grid.

01

The customer is yours, not ours

No commission on your bookings. No marketplace where you bid against the garage down the road. No selling your customer list back to you as leads. You built that relationship; it stays yours.

02

Prices belong on the website

Every other booking system in this trade hides its pricing behind a demo request. We publish ours. You are welcome to a demo, but you should never have to sit through one just to find out what something costs.

03

Never sell a slot you cannot do

A booking system that overbooks you is worse than no booking system, because it costs you a customer instead of just a phone call. Capacity is modelled on bays, not on wishful thinking.

04

Small on purpose

We are not trying to become your accounts package, your parts catalogue and your stock control. Those exist and some of them are good. We do one job properly and stay out of the way of the rest.

Who this is for

We would rather lose a sale than sell to a garage this does not suit.

A good fit

  • Independent garages and MOT centres, roughly one to eight bays
  • Anyone still taking every booking by phone, on paper, or in a wall planner
  • Garages paying commission to comparison sites and tired of it
  • Workshops whose current system technically has online booking that nobody has ever switched on

Not a good fit

  • Main dealers and franchise networks with their own manufacturer systems
  • Anyone who needs parts catalogues, stock control and full accounts in one package
  • Garages happy with the booking module in their existing management system
  • Mobile mechanics with no fixed bays, which is the one thing our model assumes

Who is behind it

GarageCal is built and run by one person in the UK. Not a call centre, not a sales team, not a startup with a growth target to hit by the end of the quarter.

That has a real downside worth saying out loud: we are small, and we are early. What you get in return is that the person who answers your email is the person who writes the software, and a feature request does not have to survive a product committee to get built.

See it running on your own bays

Twenty minutes on a call. We will set up your bays and products as they actually are, and you can decide with a real booking page in front of you.
